Post-Incarceration Syndrome
Re-entry is more than just release—it’s a psychological transition.
Post-Incarceration Syndrome (PICS) is a complex set of emotional and psychological symptoms that affect many individuals as they re-enter society after incarceration. Symptoms can include hypervigilance, emotional numbing, institutionalized thinking, depression, and difficulty with trust or self-regulation. Often, these challenges go unrecognized or are mislabeled, further complicating reintegration efforts.
At Anchored Counseling & Consulting, we provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive support for individuals experiencing PICS. Through expressive arts, individual therapy, and somatic-based healing, we work together to process the invisible wounds of incarceration and rebuild a grounded, empowered sense of self.

Healing Ambiguous Grief
When your loved one is incarcerated, grief often goes unseen.
Ambiguous grief is the emotional pain of losing someone who is still alive, common among families of incarcerated individuals. This unique grief can feel isolating, as there are no rituals, sympathy cards, or open conversations. Families may struggle with shame, helplessness, or feeling “stuck” between hope and loss.

At Anchored Counseling & Consulting, we honor and hold space for the complex grief that justice-impacted families carry. Our services offer support to name the pain, process the emotions, and find healing, even when the situation remains uncertain.
